Avenue Q Promo Shoot

I had the opportunity recently to shoot promotional portraits for a campus production of Avenue Q. The images were fairly ubiquitous on campus as part of a flyering campaign, and were immediately identifiable by their bright coloring. My favorite part though was the actors, not previously trained in puppetry, presenting acting styles that accounted for their own bodies and their new theatrical appendages. I spent time with them to generate moments that matched the hyper-caffeinated nature of the show. So here’s my take in black and white, to emphasize their work.

Next step for this kind of shoot: Stop repurposing the Daily‘s old headshot lighting equipment and get some of my own lighting in order to more fully take control of shadows.

  1. The puppets look great! You captured their energy well.
